New rotation with a full-lenght album: "Shuumatsu no Joukei" by DESIRE, a good '90s Visual kei band often underrated. DESIRE was the first band of vocalist Yukiya, founder of the indies label Kreis, and better known for his works with JILS. The guitarist was Mai Tachibana, who later formed Klein Kaiser with Misa.

Shuumatsu no Joukei is DESIRE's first album, released after a trilogy of
maxi-singles and several demo tapes. It features a lot of previously released
songs re-recorded in a better quality (for example the song DREAMS BURN DφWN,
which is almost on every release of DESIRE).
DESIRE was largely influenced by LUNA SEA: in imagery, with dark appearance,
artistic covers. Their song titles remind those of LUNA SEA and even their
name (DESIRE) is the title of a LUNA SEA song. However, I don't consider them
being a LS ripoff, DESIRE built their own style, a good example of visual
rock/gothic rock. Yukiya's vocals are always good, never whiny or too high/nasal,
he doesn't have an incredible voice but it suits the music perfectly.
The music: I really appreciate the songs, even if they aren't the most original
compositions you can find among VK bands. The stiff and echoing drums give an
'80s new-wave feel to the music (which is always good). Guitars ranges from
post-punk ethereal and heavy riffage, providing the good atmosphere, together
with the dark basslines. Shizumu -silent dream- reminds me of The Cure,
while SHADES, is a straightforward LUNA SEA influenced mid-tempo good
song. The fast JESUS? begins almost identical to LUNA SEA's JESUS
on the album EDEN :D I bet it's a tribute.
There's a good alternance beetwen fast aggressive (but not too much) songs and
mid-tempo haunting but romantic darkwave songs, and there are also some spoken/sound
effect based atmospheric interludes. Overall a very good album, good but
not very original composition (still better than most of the VK bands of the
late '90s, anyway :P), and after some listenings the songs tend to sound a bit
boring, but
keeping in mind that Shuumatsu no Joukei was released in 1995, still in the golden age of
Visual kei, it's a must-have album.

Hails. After a few months of hiatus, DANCE†MACABRE returns with a new
graphic and a slightly different rotation method.
The new design is a tribute to Kuroyume, one of the main band that defined
Visual Kei's music style in the early '90s. I will not remind you how many band
were later inspired by their style ;)
Requests are open again but the pending ones have been reset during the update
:( please request again, if you're still waiting for a song.

New rotation! Very late, I know, but we were busy. From now on I will rotate
more frequently.
For the first time, I rotate an entire Omnibus Album, in this case the legendary
first Matina PRELUDE, released by Matina (of course) the first label run by
KISAKI (of MIRAGE, Syndrome, Phantasmagoria, etc). An omnibus album is a CD
compilation of songs by various arists, very interesting to take a look to the
music scene at the time when it was released (in our case we are interested to
the Visual Kei scene ;))
