about the name

• DANCE†MACABRE is Totentanz, the Dance of Death, a medieval allegory of the power of Death, often represented in ancient paintings as a procession of skeletons, dancing along with humans, and taking away their lives. The earliest painting depicting the dance macabre is a fresco in the Church of the Holy Innocents, in Paris (1424).
• "DANCE MACABRE" is also a symphonic piece by Camille Saint-Saëns (1874). Download it here, it's truly a masterpiece.
• Other symphonic pieces on the theme of the Dance Macabre or Dance of Death were composed by Liszt, Mussorgsky, Schönberg, Shostakovich, and others...
